The challenge was to provide as much daylighting as possible with high quality thermally efficient windows that have slender sightlines. Furthermore, as the house is located towards the end of Long Island, the windows & doors had to meet the hurricane impact and cyclic testing requirements.

Bridgehampton, NY – Private Residence

Project Details

The owner’s apartments in Manhattan have period steel windows, which they love and wanted to use if possible in their new home. The architect and owners settled upon the Crittall Corporate 2000 series windows. They exceed the Wind Zone 2/3 Large Missile Impact requirements of Bridgehampton; are capable of glazing 1 1/8” insulated glass Low E high performance glass; are dual weatherstripped; and have narrow frame depth & face sightlines.

As you can see from the photographs, large floor to almost ceiling window walls are the fenestration design throughout the house, one reaching 1 1⁄2 stories. The primary visual focus of the windows is toward a creek to the northwest and the swimming pool & yard to the southwest.
